|
| Upon his birth in a Kentucky
farm house, and delivered by maternal Grandmother and midwife Elizabeth
Stanley, he was christened Ricky Baldwin. On the paternal side, the
Baldwin family included Ricky's 20 aunts and uncles, all borne by
Grandparents Henry & Mary Baldwin, back in a hollow named Big
Creek, (Yep - it was a BIG creek). Ricky even has an aunt one year
younger than himself. |
|
|
|
|
|
Henry
& Mary Baldwin loved children. Ricky's grandparents had 20 kids; his
father is the oldest son & Ricky, the oldest grandson. When you were
a child and had reunions, your playmates were probably cousins, but in Ricky's
case, his playmates were 4 aunts and uncles close to his age. |

Bet
you didn't know Santa was a football player. Back in 1972, future
two time Heisman trophy winner Archie Griffin, enjoyed using Ricky
as his favorite Sophomore tackling dummy, there at Eastmoor High School.
Ouch - thanks Archie, for toughening ole Santa up - lost 20 pounds
that year! Santa's been proud that Archie has been a hero to many,
and serves the Columbus community well.
How
did Ricky become Santa? Similar to the storyline in a great Christmas
Movie "The Santa Claus", some wonderful Christmas Magic
occurred in Ricky's life and at the age of 44, Ricky transformed
into America's humanity Santa - Ricky tossed aside the concept that
Santa is simply a "December Icon". Ricky now walks his
daily life, dressed in Santa's comfy workshop overalls, and favorite
bright red clothing! Children and Adults alike embrace Ricky as
they stumble upon Santa "vacationing" every month of the
year - the man, not the icon is visiting them! People often marvel
at Ricky's classic Santa face & cheeks; a local news article
asserted in their recent headline: Ricky is "Santa's spitting
image".

In
Ricky's case, the magical life changing event was the stage show,
"Miracle on 34th Street", Directed by Robert Goldstein,
produced by LPE, Columbus, OH, December 2000). Ricky became Santa
during the run of that show; and he now is the gentleman Kris Kringle.
During that show, guests immediately began inviting him to appear
live in their homes, thus the birth of Santa's unique singing, dancing,
storytelling Floor Show Entertainment! That first short season, Ricky
netted six appearances. Then word of mouth (and his flair for marketing),
landed 27 Santa appearances in 2001 in public and private venues.
And 2002 is shaping up as a banner professional year. Ricky has agreed
to be an exclusive entertainer at a Mall that wants his singing and
unique spirited Santa floorshow. (Performance References available

| Ricky
has been "a character" all his life, and a performer since
1995. He's appeared in four annual charity shows, in one of Columbus'
premiere vintage theaters, The Palace Theater. The four shows were
produced by the Pleasure Guild, a major fund raiser for Children's
Hospital. Each year they raise upwards of $200,000 for the kids. His
best leading roles prior to "Miracle on 34th Street" were
Geppetto, the proud string puller papa in the musical, "Pinocchio",
and professor Weberdorf, the bumbling lovable side kick of poor little
"Heidi" in the show of the same name.
Ricky
has appeared in dozens of stage shows, films, commercials, and voice
overs. Ricky thanks his many stage friends like Keith Maloney &
Kathy Hyland who've always believed in his heart, talent, and team
spiritedness.
